Crochet Lovely Lucy Doll
A classic girl, Lucy prefers conservative outfits and loves home décor. She's a natural giver who spearheads charity stitching groups. Crochet her from head to toe including undergarments and shoes, and then dress her in a top, cardi sweater and skirt. She likes to complete her outfit by accessorizing with a pearl necklace and earrings.

Skill Level: Easy

Materials:

  • Yarn: we used Red Heart® "Super Saver" Yarn, available at Walmart – 1 skein each of 313 Aran (A), 373 Petal Pink (B), 579 Delft Plum (C), 310 Monet (D), 360 Café (E), 320 Cornmeal (F), 530 Orchid (G), small amount each of 885 Delft Blue (H), 718 Shocking Pink (I) (to embroider face)
  • Boye® 4mm [US G-6] crochet hook
  • Stitch markers
  • Yarn needle
  • Stuffing
  • 8" piece of heavy cardboard
  • 2" piece of heavy cardboard
  • Scissors
  • Small pearl beads (for necklace and earrings)
  • Heavy-duty sewing thread
  • Elastic band (for ponytail)
  • ½" to 1" button
  • Red crayon (to shade cheeks)

Size:

    Doll measures 16" tall.

Gauge:

20 sts = 4"; 16 rows = 4" in single crochet. CHECK YOUR GAUGE. Use any size hook to obtain gauge.

Abbreviations:

sc2tog = single crochet 2 stitches together; st(s) = stitch(es); sc = single crochet; ch = chain; dc= double crochet; hdc = half double crochet

Special Stitch:

sc2tog = [Draw up a loop in next st] twice, yarn over and draw through all 3 loops on hook.

    Notes:
    1. Gauge is not critical for this project. Work tightly so stuffing will not show between stitches.
    2. To change color, work last stitch of old color to last yarn over. Yarn over with new color and draw through all loops on hook to complete stitch. Proceed with new color. Fasten off old color.
