Pretty Knitted Poncho
This super-easy poncho is knit in a simple rectangular shape – cleverly draped and accented with beautiful buttons, the final look is effortlessly fabulous.

Skill Level: Beginner

Abbreviations:

    BO-bind off; CO-cast on; k-knit; p-purl; pm-place marker; rep-repeat; RS-Right Side; sm-slip marker; st(s)-stitch(es)

Size:

    Sizes S (M, L). Small size is listed first. Sizes medium and larger are in parentheses. 18 (20, 22)" [46 (51, 56) cm] wide x 55 (62, 68)" [140 (157.5, 173) cm] long

Materials Needed:

Gauge:

    12 sts & 18 rows = 4" (10 cm) in stockinette st. To save time, take time to check gauge.

Special Stitches:

    RT (Right Twist): K2tog and leave sts on left-hand needle; with right-hand needle, knit the first stitch again, slip both sts off left-hand needle.

Directions:

    CO 54 (60, 66) sts.
    Beginning Edging: Knit 10 rows - 5 garter ridges.
    Row 1 (RS): K6, pm, k42 (48, 54), pm, k6.
    Row 2: K6, sm, p42 (48, 54), sm, k6.
    Row 3: K6, sm, k42, (48, 54), sm, k6.
    Row 4: Rep Row 2.
    Rep Rows 3 and 4 until piece measures 53 (60, 66)" [134.5 (152.5, 167.5) cm] from beginning.
    Final Edging: Knit 10 rows - 5 garter ridges.
    BO loosely.

Finishing

    Weave in ends. With wrong sides together, fold rectangle as shown in diagram, overlapping garter edges as shown in photo. Sew in place. Add buttons.
