Cut strips 1/2" wider than the finished height of the triangle. Align the top of the tool with the top of the strip and the wider end of the tool with the bottom edge of the strip of fabric.

Cut on both sides of the tool for the first cuts.

Rotate the tool to place the narrow end of the tool at the top of the fabric strip. Continue rotating tool and cutting across the strip.

cutting directions

assembling the quilt

STEP 1 Sew two triangles together with flat tips on opposite ends. Continue to sew triangles together into rows of 16. Press the seams all one direction in each row. Make 11 rows (you will have a few triangles left over).

STEP 2 Sew the rows together, turning every other row upside down so the seams alternate. Pin and match at the seam allowances. Sew the rows together. Press the row seams all one direction.

STEP 3 Using a long rotary cutting ruler, trim the side edges of the quilt straight.

STEP 4 Join the inner border strips with diagonal seams pressed open. Measure and trim two borders the length of the quilt. Sew to the sides of the quilt and press toward the borders.

STEP 5 Measure and trim two inner borders to the width of the quilt. Sew to the top and bottom of the quilt. Press toward the borders.

STEP 6 Measure and trim two outer borders to the length of the quilt. Sew to the sides of the quilt. Repeat for the top and bottom borders.

finishing the quilt

STEP 1 Cut the backing fabric into two equal sections. Trim off the selvage on one side of both sections. Sew those edges together to make the quilt backing. Press the seam.

STEP 2 Layer the backing wrong side up, the batting and the quilt top right side up. Baste, then quilt as desired. Before binding, hand-baste a scant ¼" from the edge of the quilt to hold the layers together.

STEP 3 Prepare the binding strips by joining with diagonal seams pressed open. Fold the binding in half the long way and press to make a double binding. Sew to the edge of the quilt with a 3/8" seam, mitering the corners. Join the binding ends.

STEP 4 Trim off the excess batting and backing, then turn the binding to the back side of the quilt and stitch down by hand with matching thread, covering the stitching line.
