  • 1 Yard of Beaded Novelty Trim
  • 1 1/2 Yards of Medium Chain
  • Large Hook and Eye OR Lobster Claw Clasp and Jump Ring
  • Jewelry Pliers
  • Thread to match

Read through all of the instructions before cutting and sewing.

Step 1. Draw a bib shape on paper OR use the bib pattern piece from Simplicity pattern 2472.

Step 2. Fold fabric remnant in half having fabric right sides together. Pin pattern onto fabric and cut out. Remove pattern.

Step 3. Pin pattern piece onto interfacing remnant. Cut out. Fuse interfacing to wrong side of one bib section.

Step 4. With right sides together, pin bib sections together, having raw edges even. Stitch outer edges with a 3/8" seam, leaving an opening along one edge to turn. Trim seam to 1/4". Clip curves and cut across points.

Step 5. Turn bib right side out and press. Turn under opening edges and slipstitch together to close.

Step 6. Fold bib in half and thread mark center.

Step 7. Cut two pieces of silver novelty trim, each 5 1/2" long. Position one end of each section over upper corners of bib. Sew in place. Attach hook and eye or lobster claw and jump ring to remaining ends.

Step 8. Cut a piece of trim the length of three squares and a 3" length of silver chain. Attach ends of chain to corners of one square using plier to open links and attach to corners.

Step 9. Position this prepared trim to lower edge of bib at center, having lower edge of one square along bib. Sew in place.

Step 10. Cut a piece of trim the length of two squares and another 3" length of silver chain. Prepare same as center trim. Position prepared trim 1/4" from center trim, having both squares on bib. Sew in place.

Step 11. Prepare two three square lengths and two square lengths all with chain trim at ends. Sew prepared trims to one side of bib, spacing 1/4" apart and having upper ends forming a curve.

Step 12. Prepare and sew the same amount of trim for opposite side of bib.

Step 13. Separate trim into sixteen squares. Position a square above each row of trim, placing square diagonally. Sew in place. Position three squares on the diagonal at center of bib and one at each upper corner. Sew in place.

Step 14. Place the necklace on and fasten the ends. Enjoy your new creation.
