How to Make a Travel Doggie Dish
Materials Needed:
- 1/4 yard of oil cloth (waterproof table cloth) for small to medium dog
- 5/8 yard of ribbon or trim (optional)
- One coffee can lid or 4” X 4” square of lightweight plastic
- Fabric craft glue
Cutting Instructions:
Step 1. Cut two circles of oil cloth, each measuring 8” in diameter for a small dish or 10” in diameter for a large dish. You can use an 8” to 10” plate or Easy Circle Cut by EZ Quilting template. |

Step 3. Cut one circle from the coffee can lid or lightweight plastic, measuring 3” in diameter for a small dish and 4” in diameter for a large dish. |

Constructing the Dish: |

Step 1. Place one fabric circle on a flat surface with the WRONG side of the fabric facing you. Center the plastic disc on the fabric and glue in place. |

Step 2. With WRONG sides together, glue fabric discs together, sandwiching the plastic disc between them. Stitch close to the edge of the plastic disc, stitching around the perimeter of the disc and being careful not to stitch through the plastic. |

Step 3. Make eight 1/4” pleats along the outside edge as shown, pinning each pleat as you form the dish shape. Stitch the pleats in place, stitching approximately 1/4” from the cut edge of the fabric. |

Step 4. With WRONG sides together, fold the fabric upper edge of the bowl, binding the cut edge. Edge-stitch binding in place, stitching through all thicknesses. |

Step 5. Glue or stitch trim over binding seam if desired. |
