How to Make a Tween Black & Silver Bib Necklace
Materials Needed:
- Remnant of Black Felt
- Remnant of Double-Sided Heavyweight Fusible Interfacing
- 1-1/2 yards of 1/8" Link Chain
- 1/2 yard of 3/8" Beaded Round with Gem Trim OR 1/2" Sequin Frizette Trim
- One package each of Black and Silver Paillettes
- One Lobster Clasp and Jump Ring
- Monofilament Clear Thread OR Clear-Drying Craft Glue
- Pins
- Hand Sewing Needle
- Jewelry Pliers
- Bib Template
Note:
Be sure to read through all instructions thoroughly before beginning project.
Cutting Instructions
Step 1. Using bib template, pin or trace bib shape onto felt. Cut out two bib shapes from felt. Cut out center
of bib shape, following dotted line from template.
Step 2.Using bib template, pin or trace bib shape onto interfacing. Cut out one bib shape from interfacing. Cut out center of bib shape, following dotted line from template.
Construction and Trimming Instructions
Step 1. Sandwich the interfacing in between the two felt bib sections, having raw edges even. Fuse all layers together, following manufacturer’s directions.
Step 2.Hand-sew OR glue paillettes along outer edge of bib, overlapping paillettes slightly and alternating colors.
Step 3. Pin Beaded Round with Gem Trim or Sequin Frizette Trim along outer edge of cutout, having ends meet if using beaded trim or turning under cut ends to finish for sequin trim. Hand-sew OR glue trim in place.
Step 4. Using jewelry pliers, cut chain in half. Hand-sew OR glue one end of each length of chain to inside of bib at upper corners as shown in photo.
Step 5. Place bib around neck and adjust to desired length, making sure ends of chain are of equal length. Mark ends.
Step 6. Using jewelry pliers, cut off excess chain
at markings. Attach lobster clasp to end of one chain and attach jump ring to end of opposite chain.
Step 7. Put on bib and enjoy your new creation!
