Stitch In The Ditch

Stitching in the ditch is a great way to close waistbands, but you may also use it in plackets or along facings. If you prefer machine sewing over hand sewing, this technique creates a beautiful finish on the inside of the garment.

Tips to Remember

  • Stitch 1/4"" away from edge of fabric.
  • When topstitching, lengthening the stitch can help it appear more than the standard 2.5 stitch length.

Expect intricate fashion shaping, hidden construction details, couture inner construction, fine touches of hand sewing and bias draping.
