Whether you’re after romantic blouses or elegant everyday staples, this article will give you pattern ideas to sew the look for less—without losing that effortless Sézane style.
1. Orlane // S3169
The Orlane skirt is a popular, high-waisted fall and winter piece loved for its structured fit-and-flare silhouette and rich coloured wool or tartan options. To us, Simplicity 3169 is a great choice to sew the look as it has the same flared shape, midi-ankle length, wide waistband and centre front seam. Our pattern also includes two optional styles of pockets to make it more practical and can be made in Corduroy or Taffeta as well as the traditional wools.
2. Tazia // S3032
Tazia is a long-sleeved blouse featuring a round neckline with dramatic pussybow neck-tie detail, a center-front button fastening, and eye-catching sleeve details - the voluminous balloon sleeves are gathered into wide cuffs. We think Simplicity 3032 is the perfect choice with it's near identical features. The only difference is the closer fit acheived with darts, that could be left unsewn for a boxier silhouette.
3. Marino // V9282
To replicate the Marino pants - Sézane's signature high-waisted, wide-leg sailor-style trousers with a double-button / officer button placket - you can use Vogue 9282 View C. It has the same eye-catching button detailing and flared leg shape but closes with a back zipper rather than at the side seam. V9282 works perfectly in Wool Suiting, Gabardine, and Lightweight Denim with large metal buttons.
4. Jonas // M8655
The Jonas trench coat is a popular style known for its staple design and classic camel colour - raglan sleeves fit easily over bulky sweaters and the midi length hem helps keep you dry in a rainstorm. We're recommending McCall's 8655 for a great match. It has the same silhouette, buttoned sleeve tabs and deep pockets, but also has an optional hood included which could make it more useful in wet weather than the inspiration garment!
5. Chlo // V1823
The Chlo shirt features a stand-up collar and delicate ruffles or scalloped lace bands along the button placket and neckline. It has a button front with long sleeves, that on some versions have ruffled cuffs to match the front. You can recreate the look with Vogue 1823 View B. It has the statement neckline ruffle with matching ruffled cuffs. You can either level off the hem to match the inspiration, of keep the dramatic high-lo finish included with the pattern.
6. Nicia // M8562
The Nicia dress channel's French chic, with its rich chesnut shade and trapeze flared shape. It's a versatile silhouette, perfect for over a white blouse or layered with a knit, and you can recreate this look with McCall’s 8562 or Vogue 9237. Both patterns have the right shape. M8562 is the best option and has darts for bust shaping. But V9237 has a back ruffle that could be really cute in gingham, cut on the diagonal.
